Participation in SDEWES conference in Cyprus

Paphos. The conference "Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems" (SDEWES) provides a platform for scientists to exchange ideas on multidisciplinary research approaches to sustainability. The conference took place for the 17th time this year from 6 to 10 November in Paphos, Cyprus. The Paderborn University institutes involved in the project, the SICP - Software Innovation Campus Paderborn and the Lightweight Automotive (LiA) group, were represented at the international conference.

The special session "Sustainable production and the role of industry in the energy transition", organised by Prof. Dr. Henning Meschede, Professor in the Department of Energy Systems Technology, and Dr. Florian Schlosser, was an ideal opportunity to discuss the transformation process of companies on the path to climate neutrality with international scientists. Keynote speeches by Dr Florian Schlosser, Marius Naumann and Moritz Ostermann from the project team were the trigger for constructive discussions with the experts present, in which common challenges and solutions were discussed. For example, consistent data collection for product-specific greenhouse gas tracking as a basis for energy efficiency benchmarking and the derivation of greenhouse gas reduction measures was one of the much-discussed topics. The discussions also focussed on the consideration of interactions in the holistic development of reduction measures.

A successful conference came to an end with the exchange of experiences and knowledge as well as numerous impulses for the further course of the project.
